Thinking about making your home more energy efficient but not sure what the process looks like? At YorEnergy, we believe in making the retrofit journey as clear, simple, and supportive as possible. Here’s a walk-through of what happens from your first contact with us, through to your new, efficient home all switched on, including the free home assessment that kick-starts everything.

Step 1: Initial Contact & Expert Advice

  • You reach out via our website, ask for a call back, or use our Virtual Plan Builder to begin shaping ideas based on your home and budget.

  • A friendly adviser gets in touch to talk through what you’d like to achieve, whether that's lowering bills, better comfort, or reducing emissions.

  • During this call, we will explain what grants or financing options may be available to you.

Step 2: Free Home Assessment

  • When you’re ready, your adviser will book in a free home assessment visit. This typically lasts 2-3 hours and involves a walkthrough of your property.

  • The aim is to understand how your home is performing now, where heat is being lost, where insulation is lacking, any air leaks, draughts, or just generally what retrofits could work for your home.

Step 3: Personalised Plan

  • After the assessment, you’ll receive a Home Assessment Report tailored to your property. This will list recommended energy-efficiency or retrofit measures identified during the visit.

  • If you want more coordination, a qualified Retrofit Coordinator (PAS2035 accredited) can be engaged to refine the plan, integrate multiple measures, ensure compliance, and build a specification to share with suppliers.

Step 4: Supplier Quotes & Financing

  • Once the specification is in place, YorEnergy helps you to get quotations from their network of accredited suppliers. You’ll get a range of options so you can compare cost, scope, and timelines.

  • They’ll also help you navigate grant schemes, finance options, planning permissions (if needed) so you can choose the solution that best fits your budget and needs.

Step 5: Installation & Completion

  • After you authorise the work, your chosen supplier will carry out the installation. YorEnergy’s project management service oversees the timeline, quality checks, and compliance with the specification.

  • Once the work is done, there’s a final quality check. You’ll also have support to ask questions, make sure you’re comfortable with any new systems.
